https://carubanproceeding.ipbcirebon.ac.id/index.php/carubanproceeding/article/view/19

Film posters often act as the first media to introduce the themes and nuances of the film to the audience, so the visuals in them are very important in forming the audience's initial expectations. This research examines how the Sleep Call film poster conveys implicit messages through the visual elements used in its design. In this research, Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory is used to identify signs and signifiers that appear on posters, while Erving Goffman's dramaturgical theory is used to understand how the audience might interpret and respond to the visuals displayed. Through qualitative descriptive methods, researchers will assess the extent to which the Sleep Call poster successfully reflects the film's main themes and messages, as well as how these visual elements influence the audience's views and expectations of the film's content. Research findings show that the poster design successfully aligns visual elements with the desired tone and theme, thereby increasing the audience's emotional involvement. Thus, this poster can be considered as an effective promotional medium in attracting the audience's attention as well as forming relevant perceptions of the content of the film Sleep Call.
Gytta Nur Fadhilah

https://carubanproceeding.ipbcirebon.ac.id/index.php/carubanproceeding/article/view/23

This research is motivated by the use of conventional learning methods by many teachers which causes ineffectiveness in the learning process and minimal student participation. As a result, students' interest in learning is minimal. Therefore, a teaching method that makes students more enthusiastic and excited is needed. The fun learning strategy is expected to see students become more active in classroom participation, increase cohesiveness, and cooperation between students. This study aims to identify the effect of fun learning method on the interest in learning Indonesian language among grade 4 students at SDN 1 Sumber. This study applied quantitative method with true experiment design. This study also involved grade 4A and 4B students as subjects. Class 4B served as the control group using the conventional approach, while class 4A served as the experimental group using the fun learning method. Data collection was conducted in this study through questionnaires, tests, and observations. The test instrument used for this study was a multiple choice test. The results of the study present that the fun learning strategy as a whole affects the learning interest of grade 4 students at SDN 1 Sumber. This is reinforced by the results of the T test at a significant level of 0.05 which shows the value of t-count ≥ ttable, more specifically 2.349 ≥ 1.691. The application of the fun learning method in Indonesian language learning for elementary school students proved to be effective in increasing interest in learning which was previously considered less interesting by students. In addition, this method also improves cooperation and cohesiveness between students, which is rarely discussed in previous studies. https://carubanproceeding.ipbcirebon.ac.id/index.php/carubanproceeding/article/view/24

This research aims to analyze visual and verbal signs in the movie posters John Wick 2, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and The Expendables 2, using the semiotic theories of Ferdinand de Saussure and Roland Barthes, as well as Herman Cerrato's color theory. Ferdinand de Saussure's theory distinguishes between "signifier" and "signified" to describe how visual and verbal elements act as signs in the transmission of messages. Roland Barthes' theory emphasizes denotation and connotation, which allows for a deeper analysis to find the meaning behind signs. Finally, Herman Cerrato's color theory was used to determine how the use of color influenced the audience's perspective. The research used a qualitative descriptive method to identify and analyze the visual and verbal signs of the three movie posters. The data were collected by direct observation of visual and verbal elements in the posters and analyzed according to semiotic and color theory. The results of this research show that there are 13 visual and 16 verbal signs identified in three movie posters. Visual signs include characters, weapons, buildings and the background of the poster. Verbal signs include the title of the movie, the sequence of the series, the name of the cast, and other information related to the movie. The analysis of these signs revealed that each poster had different, but complementary visual and verbal features to convey the entire movie's message to the public.
Annisa Alfianinsih
